The National Banana Corporation (CORBANA) is a non-state public entity, created by Law No. 4895 in 1971 and its reforms, to work for the benefit of the banana development of Costa Rica.

Since its creation, it has promoted the cultivation of bananas in search of the best quality of the internationally recognized "Banana de Costa Rica", through research and generating state-of-the-art technology, which is transferred through technical assistance to producers to offer a generated product. with the best agricultural practices.

CORBANA brings together all banana producers, and has contributed to their strengthening, its work is palpable when comparing the 46 million boxes that were exported in the early 70's, and 110 million boxes today, which is based on high yields per hectare and the adoption of more efficient and environmentally friendly processes.

For 45 years, improvements in agricultural practices have been promoted that have positioned the "Banana de Costa Rica" as the Best Banana in the World!

Products

    Edible fruits and nuts; peels of citrus, melons or watermelons.

  • Banana subgroup Musa AAA Cavendish of the clones: Gran Enano, Williams and Valery, all produced in Costa Rican territory.
  • Color: At harvest time, the banana has an intense green color, then goes through various yellow-green tones until it reaches a deep yellow color.
  • Physical and chemical characteristics: High content of carbohydrates and other nutrients (iron and potassium stand out), vitamins and phenolic compounds.
  • Proximal chemical profile in green state: ph 4.67, total sugars 29.6%, ° Brix 10.3%, total carbohydrates 92.1%, ash 2.93%, dietary fiber 8.1%, total fat 0.12%, protein 4.8% and humidity 73.4%.
  • Proximal chemical profile in mature state: pH 4.9, total sugars 76.4%, ° Brix 20.3%, total carbohydrates 91.8%, ash 3.13%, dietary fiber 6.5%, total fat 0.12%, protein 4.9% and humidity 76.0%.
  • Harvest age: It is harvested 11 to 13 weeks after fruit flowering (physiological age).
  • Packaging grade: 39 to 48 thirty-twelfths of an inch in diameter.
  • Packaging in cardboard boxes of 18.14 kilos.
  • Transport temperature to the port of destination: 14 degrees Celsius.
